Sophie joined the National Infrastructure Commission in 2022. This coincided with the last year of the second National Infrastructure Assessment. She co-directed work on urban, inter-urban (capacity), (connectivity), and decarbonisation transport strands.Sophie has a background as a strategic planner in the public sector (MRTPI and PhD). She worked for the West of England, London, and South Wales, developing statutory spatial plans on a regional and local scale. In these contexts, she developed an interest in the interrelationships between transport infrastructure (and other types of infrastructure) and wider needs and constraints.
