First look at Cheltenham Jazz Festival line-upHere's what you can expect from the 2023 Cheltenham Jazz Festival.The countdown for the 2023 Cheltenham Jazz Festival is now well underway.Cheltenham Jazz Festival is returning in around 160 days. The Festival celebrates all jazz genres through an eclectic mix of jazz icons from around the world, new and upcoming artists, and Festival performances.To get you into the spirit, we reveal some of the amazing names who will be taking to the stage.We are delighted to announce Gregory Porter's return to the Festival this year as artistic curator. The acclaimed American singer Lizz Wright is also set to perform. Fergus McCreadie makes his festival debut. He was shortlisted for 2022 Mercury Prize, and won 2022 Scottish Album Of The Year as well as 2022 JazzFM Instrumentalist Of The Year.Stian Westerhus, a Norwegian guitarist, will perform twice: once as a soloist and again with the CollapseUncollapse trio, Mark Sanders, Chris Mapp, and Mark Sanders, drums. Black Top (Orphy, Robinson, electronics and vibes + Pat Thomas, keyboard) will perform with saxophonist Xhosa.Skylla will be a three-woman show led by Ruth Goller, with Lauren Kinsella, Alice Grant and Ruth Goller.Mike Flynn said, "Jazzwise has been a media partner with the Cheltenham Jazz Festival for 15 years. We are extremely proud of this partnership. The Festival reflects our own view of jazz, which is to embrace new sounds while celebrating the greats and pushing music forward. The first names announced for 2023's festival represent that mix again - stellar US vocalists Gregory Porter, Lizz Wright, cutting-edge UK talents such as Ruth Goller’s SKYLLA, Xhosa, and Stian Westerhus the fearlessly innovative Norwegian guitarist, are all scheduled to appear.
